BMW of North America has announced updates for the 2027 X3 M50 xDrive, including a power boost and a new Black Package option. The performance SUV’s 3.0-liter inline-six engine now produces 437 horsepower, 44 hp more than before, while the Black Package brings exclusive styling upgrades inside and out.
More Power and Distinctive Design
The heart of the update is the engine upgrade. The mild hybrid 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six now delivers 437 hp, an increase from the previous figure. BMW also improved the exhaust system, resulting in a deeper and more resonant engine sound. This allows the X3 M50 to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.3 seconds.
Separately, buyers can choose the new Black Package, which adds motorsport-inspired aesthetic features. On the outside, this includes 22-inch Jet Black alloy wheels, high-gloss black M Sport brake calipers, and black M logos and badges with silver edges. The Black Package emphasizes a darker, sportier look compared to standard models.

Interior Enhancements for All X3 Models
Along with the M50’s updates, BMW has made interior improvements across the X3 range. These include a PVC Softskin finish in front of the central display, a new stitching pattern on the instrument panel, and expanded ambient lighting in areas like the center-console storage and door handles.
Additionally, there is a redesigned glove-box opener and stainless-steel edge protectors on the cargo sill. Black Package models receive Dark Silver door-sill trim with a black M logo. Inside the Black Package cars, Alcantara upholstery with blue stitching, aluminum-carbon styled trims, M-colored seatbelts, and glass accents on some controls enhance the sporty ambiance.

Pricing and Availability
The 2027 X3 M50 xDrive will start at $67,500 in the US, excluding a $1,350 destination charge. The optional Black Package costs an additional $3,800. This update will be available starting December 2026, aiming to attract buyers looking for sharper styling and improved performance in a compact luxury SUV.
