Tesla Unveils Retro-Inspired User Interface for New Roadster

Tesla has revealed the user interface design for its upcoming Roadster, showcasing a distinctive retro-futuristic style unlike any of its previous models. This fresh look highlights key performance information with red graphics set against a dark background, blending classic and modern design elements for an engaging cockpit experience.

A Dashboard Designed for Performance Enthusiasts

The Roadster’s display focuses heavily on performance data essential for track driving. It shows battery and motor temperatures, aerodynamic settings such as fan and brake balance, and lap timing information. Tesla has included controls to adjust exterior lighting, aerodynamics, suspension height, and more. With simple touchscreen inputs, drivers can toggle vents behind the rear fenders and hood, or lower the car’s suspension for optimal performance.

Thruster Mode and Boost Features

This interface also integrates controls related to the Roadster’s unique booster and cold-gas thruster system. These thrusters can provide a quick five-second boost and reportedly require up to six hours to refill. Tesla claims the Roadster equipped with thrusters can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in under 0.9 seconds, with a higher-tier “Rocket” version potentially doing it in just 0.59 seconds. Though it is unclear how drivers activate this feature, the display includes dedicated status indicators.

Production and Design Notes

The new Roadster, unveiled recently after nearly a decade of anticipation, sports a sharper, more aggressive look influenced by Tesla’s Cybertruck styling. The software and hardware together reflect a notable shift from previous Tesla interiors, emphasizing a driver-focused, data-rich environment. Tesla aims to start production sometime next year, but the specific timing and which versions will come first remain uncertain.
