Stellantis Breaks 600,000 Sales in South America; Jeep Avenger Debuts Strong

Stellantis achieved over 600,000 vehicle sales in South America from January to August 2026, securing a 26.6% market share. The bulk of the sales came from Brazil with nearly 504,000 units, while Argentina contributed around 96,000 units. Fiat leads the Brazilian market, and Ram showed significant growth during this period. Notably, the new Jeep Avenger also made an impressive start after its commercial launch.

Fiat Dominates Brazilian Market with Strong Model Sales

In August 2026, combined sales in Brazil and Argentina topped 76,000 vehicles, representing a 2% increase compared to the same month in 2025. Brazil alone accounted for more than 65,000 sales, up 7.6%, resulting in strong performance for Stellantis in the country.

Fiat maintained its leadership in Brazil with 48,467 vehicles sold in August and an 18.4% market share, marking the eighth straight month at the top. Year-to-date, Fiat sold 368,447 units, leading the runner-up brand by more than 57,000 vehicles.

The Fiat Strada remained Brazil’s best-selling vehicle with 13,798 units sold in August. The Argo also performed well with 8,811 sales, securing fourth place overall. In the pickup segment, Fiat’s Strada, Toro, and Titano collectively sold 19,763 units, representing a 45% share of the market. Meanwhile, the Fiorino commercial vehicle stayed at the top of its category with 1,845 sales.

Fiat’s Fastback crossover also improved its results, reaching 5,133 registrations in August, marking its best monthly performance this year.

Ram and Jeep Showcase Impressive Growth

Ram reported 3,369 pickup sales in Brazil for August, a striking 60.3% increase compared to last year. This was Ram’s highest monthly volume since November 2023. Year-to-date sales rose 19.7% to 21,492 units.

Jeep recorded a total of 9,027 sales from its Renegade, Compass, and Commander models. The launch of the Jeep Avenger in late August further boosted the brand’s reach, with Stellantis confirming over 5,000 purchases just 10 days after the Avenger went on sale. This strong start is separate from the other models’ registrations and helped Jeep achieve its best two-week sales period in five years. The Avenger’s arrival also sparked increased interest across Jeep’s full lineup.

Other Brands and Electric Vehicle Progress

Chinese brand Leapmotor continued steady sales in Brazil, exceeding 1,000 units sold for the second month running. Their C10 model took the lead in the D-segment electric SUV category. Leapmotor plans to expand its portfolio by introducing the B10 Ultra-Hybrid in Brazil before the end of 2026, as confirmed by Stellantis during the Interlagos Festival.

Citroën saw a 15% increase in C3 sales for August and an 8% rise for the first eight months of the year. The utility-focused Jumpy van sales surged by 165% compared to August 2025.

Peugeot also enjoyed strong growth within the commercial vehicle sector. The Expert van sales jumped 145% in August and 184% across the January-August period. Additionally, the electric Peugeot Boxer saw sales grow 36% in August and 81% year-to-date.

Stellantis’ sales results highlight its strong presence and growth in South America’s automotive markets so far in 2026. More details on the ongoing market developments and upcoming model launches are expected later this year.
