Opel has introduced a new entry-level version of the Astra called the Start trim. This new variant brings a more accessible price point while keeping important equipment features intact. The Start trim is available for both the regular Astra and the Sports Tourer estate, and includes options for hybrid, diesel, and fully electric powertrains.
Key Features of the Astra Start Trim
Despite being the base model, the Astra Start does not skimp on comfort or tech. It includes the Intelli-Seats with six-way adjustment for better ergonomics, automatic climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and keyless start. Both the instrument panel and the infotainment system feature 10-inch screens, with the dashboard being fully customizable.
A new Denim Blue metallic color is introduced with this trim, adding a fresh look to the Astra lineup. Buyers who want a bit more comfort can choose the optional Start Comfort Pack, which adds solar-protect tinted windows, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a central armrest, and roof bars.

Available Engines and Pricing in Germany
The Astra Start is offered with three main powertrain choices:
- A hybrid version with 107 kW (145 hp) and 230 Nm, paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
- A diesel variant putting out 96 kW (130 hp) and equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
- The fully electric Astra Electric Start with 115 kW (156 hp) and 270 Nm, featuring vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology for charging other devices.
The starting price in Germany for the hybrid Astra Start is about €31,890, while the Sports Tourer version costs around €33,390. The electric model with the Start trim is priced at approximately €36,490, around €1,900 less than before.

Expansion of Start Trim Across Opel Models
Stellantis, Opel’s parent company, indicated that the Start trim will likely be added to more models in their lineup. This comes alongside a clearer distinction of higher trims, which will feature more specific equipment and styling elements.
In Spain, the Astra currently comes with Edition, GS, and Ultimate trims. Prices begin from €27,266 for the Edition and rise through GS to Ultimate, the most equipped version. The GS trim offers various powertrains, including hybrid, diesel, electric, and a plug-in hybrid with 143 kW (195 hp) and a 7-speed eDCT automatic.
For the Sports Tourer in Spain, only Edition and GS trims are available so far, with Edition limited to hybrid and electric engines. Opel’s recent Paris Motor Show concept hints at a stronger focus on the electric version for the Sports Tourer variant.
