The new 2027 Kia Seltos has gone on sale in the United States, offering only internal combustion engine (ICE) options for now. A hybrid version is expected to join the lineup soon, according to the brand’s official website.
Engine Choices and Drivetrain Options
The 2027 Seltos comes with two engine options:
- 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower (110 kW/149 ps), paired with front-wheel drive (FWD) and optional all-wheel drive (AWD).
- 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder delivering 190 horsepower (142 kW/193 ps), standard with AWD and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2.0-liter engine features an “Intelligent Variable Transmission,” while the turbocharged engine utilizes a traditional automatic setup.

The X-Line S emphasizes rugged styling but lacks some comfort features like the power tailgate and digital climate display. The X-Line SX adds premium amenities, including a panoramic sunroof and heated steering wheel.
The new Seltos design is the work of renowned designer Karim Habib, who has contributed to several high-profile models including BMW 7 Series and Kia’s own EV9 and Sorento. The vehicle shares its platform with models like the Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, and Hyundai i20, based on the Hyundai-Kia K3 platform.

Production and Availability
The second-generation Kia Seltos is manufactured in South Korea, China, and India. The US market currently sees only ICE variants, with a hybrid model expected to arrive later, although no exact launch date has been announced.

Why It Matters
The 2027 Kia Seltos continues to offer a strong value proposition in the competitive subcompact SUV segment. With updated design, solid engine choices, and a range of trims, it aims to appeal to a broad set of buyers. The upcoming hybrid option will be an important addition, aligning with the growing demand for electrified vehicles.
