Jeep is bringing back the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk for 2027, moving away from the previous plug-in hybrid powertrain. The new model is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter Hurricane4 engine, offering 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. This return marks the reintroduction of the Trail Rated badge, emphasizing the model’s off-road abilities.
Off-Road Features Highlighted
The 2027 Trailhawk is equipped with Jeep’s Quadra-Lift air suspension, which can lift the vehicle to achieve up to 11.4 inches of ground clearance for tackling rough terrain. The front bumper has been reshaped to improve approach angle to about 36 degrees, while the breakover and departure angles measure 24.4 and 30.3 degrees respectively. These changes enhance the Trailhawk’s ability to navigate challenging off-road conditions.
Its Quadra-Trac II four-wheel-drive system includes low-range gearing for precise control on difficult surfaces. Traction is further improved by an electronically controlled rear limited-slip differential. The Selec-Terrain system also features a Rock mode tailored for navigating rocky sections.
Protecting the underbody are six high-strength steel skid plates, which shield important mechanical parts from impact. Additionally, a TrailCam provides a clear view of obstacles immediately in front of the vehicle, displayed on the central screen, helping when the hood blocks the driver’s direct sight.
Design and Interior Updates
The Trailhawk rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires sized 265/60 R18. Red details appear outside on the recovery hooks and Trailhawk badging, while a matte-black graphic on the hood helps minimize glare.
Inside, black Nappa leather seats with red stitching add a rugged but refined touch. The cabin features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen consistent with the updated Grand Cherokee lineup, enhancing the tech experience.
Production and Pricing
Jeep will build the 2027 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk at the Mack plant, part of the Detroit Assembly Complex. It is expected to reach US dealers by the end of 2026. The starting price has been set at $54,995, positioning the Trailhawk as a capable off-road option in Jeep’s lineup without the plug-in hybrid system seen in previous models.
