Jeep is broadening the 2027 Grand Cherokee lineup in the United States with three additional trim levels. The move aims to offer buyers more choices while updating key features and powertrains for its best-selling SUV.
New Trims and Updated Powertrains
The 2027 Grand Cherokee lineup now includes the new Upland trim, positioned between the Altitude and Limited models. The Upland adopts styling cues similar to the Trailhawk, with all-terrain wheels and specific exterior accents. Alongside the Upland, the entry-level Laredo and Laredo X trims have been revised to feature upgraded cabins and larger touchscreens.
Jeep offers two engine options for the new model year. The base Laredo and Laredo X continue with the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. Meanwhile, the Altitude and higher trims, including the new Trailhawk, come standard with Jeep’s new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder called Hurricane. This smaller engine produces 324 horsepower and 332 pound-feet (450 Newton-meters) of torque, boosting performance across these trims.

Trailhawk Gains Hurricane Engine and New Price Tag
The Trailhawk trim makes a much-anticipated return and is equipped exclusively with the Hurricane 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Jeep confirmed a starting price of $54,995 for the Trailhawk, roughly $3,000 higher than the Upland trim. The Trailhawk also gets distinctive styling elements such as Vapor Gray tow hooks and Dark Neutral Gray exterior accents, along with Trailhawk-style wheels fitted with 265/60 all-terrain tires.

Off-Road Capability and Features
Some Grand Cherokee models now offer up to 11.4 inches (290 millimeters) of ground clearance and a towing capacity of 6,200 pounds (2,812 kilograms). Off-road angles measure 36, 24.4, and 30.3 degrees, contributing to respectable off-road ability. The base trims gain a notable interior upgrade as well, featuring a larger 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen that replaces the previous 8.4-inch display.

Color Choices and Availability
The 2027 Grand Cherokee adds several new exterior color options such as Red Rock, Ember, Midnight Sky, Olive Green, Sting Gray, High Gloss Black, and Ghost. Most of these colors are marked as “late availability,” but Jeep has not yet clarified what timeframe that implies. Interior colors include Global Black, Wicker Beige, and Tupelo with Black accents.

Production and Release Plans
Jeep’s 2027 Grand Cherokee will be produced at the Stellantis Detroit Assembly Complex in Mack and Jefferson plants. The automaker expects the updated SUV to reach dealerships late in 2026, offering a total of 10 trims with the Summit remaining the flagship model.
