Hyundai is preparing to replace the current BAYON with a second-generation model that clearly embraces a tougher, more SUV-like style. Recent official images reveal much more about the upcoming B-SUV’s design and features, ahead of its planned launch in India later in 2026 and Europe in early 2027.
A More Defined SUV Look for the BAYON
The current BAYON, introduced in 2021, has often been seen as more of a crossover or a raised hatchback than a true SUV. Hyundai’s new model abandons that ambiguity, showing sharper, more robust styling. The latest photos reveal prominent changes, such as slimmer, flatter daytime running lights and a new light signature at the rear that reinforces the SUV identity.
The side profile also gains an upward-sloping beltline that reduces the size of the third side window, emphasizing a more dynamic silhouette than before. Overall, the body is more muscular, shedding the older model’s softer, crossover traits for a confident SUV stance. These details align closely with earlier unofficial teasers but now give a clearer idea of the final production design.

Powertrain and Market Launch
Hyundai plans to offer the new BAYON with both gasoline and hybrid powertrains, although exact engine details remain unconfirmed. It is expected to have naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol options, possibly a 1.2-litre and a 1.0-litre engine producing up to around 120 hp. Transmission choices may include a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Notably, despite the introduction of a hybrid variant that recharges itself without external charging (a mild or full hybrid system), there won’t be all-wheel drive options; the BAYON will remain front-wheel drive only.
The new BAYON will also debut a sportier N Line trim for those seeking a more dynamic appearance and possibly sportier tuning.

Launch Timing and Strategy
Hyundai will launch the BAYON for the first time in India toward the end of 2026, marking the SUV’s entry into a key growth market. European customers can expect to see the car arrive early in 2027. The renewed focus on a stronger SUV identity and hybrid technology aims to boost the BAYON’s appeal in the increasingly competitive B-SUV segment.
This update marks a clear shift in Hyundai’s smallest SUV approach, moving away from crossover softness toward a bolder design and more advanced powertrains without all-wheel drive complexity.
