Geely Unveils Compact “Thunder” Electric Drive System with High Efficiency

Geely has introduced a new electric drive system called “Thunder” that integrates multiple components into a single unit. This compact and lightweight system aims to improve efficiency and reduce weight in electric vehicles.

Innovative All-in-One Design

The Thunder system combines 12 hardware components into one enclosure, including the motor, motor controller, DC-to-DC converter, onboard charger, and battery management systems. This integration reduces the need for extensive wiring and extra parts.

Impressive Performance and Efficiency

Geely Galaxy TT Sports EV

The first car to use the Thunder drive system is the new Galaxy TT electric sedan. It offers a single-motor version with 328 hp and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive option producing 570 hp. The vehicle uses an 800-volt architecture and offers three battery sizes:

  • 63.8 kWh
  • 75.2 kWh

It can achieve an estimated maximum range of up to 725 km (450 miles) under the CLTL standard.
