Fiat has introduced several updates to the Topolino electric vehicle in the U.S. market for the 2027 model year. The small EV now comes with Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) certification, a new Open Air version, additional color options, and a special yacht-themed edition. The fresh changes aim to expand the model’s appeal and road access at a competitive price point starting at $13,995, excluding destination fees.
Low-Speed Vehicle Certification Expands Use
The key change is the Topolino’s new LSV status in the U.S., allowing it to legally operate on roads where local laws permit vehicles with a maximum speed of 25 mph (40 km/h). This expands where owners can drive the model beyond private properties or restricted zones. Fiat is providing an LSV conversion kit free of charge to existing American customers. Meanwhile, all 2027 Topolino models delivered to dealerships will come factory-certified as LSVs.

Open Air Version and Fresh Colors
The new Open Air Topolino differs from the standard model by combining fixed full doors with a fabric roof that folds back. This contrasts with the earlier Dolce Vita edition, which features open sides secured by rope barriers. The updated roof design offers a fresh take on open-top motoring for the city EV.
Fiat has also expanded the exterior color palette with new shades called Corallo Orange and Luna Greige. These join the Verde Vita Mint from previous offerings, making all three available throughout the model range.

Enhanced Interior Display and Monster Audio System
An updated color instrument cluster behind the steering wheel provides a modernized view of driving data. In addition, Fiat collaborated with Monster to develop a portable audio system called the Monsterlino. This Bluetooth-enabled device magnetically attaches to the Topolino but can be removed to continue music playback outside the vehicle. Fiat plans to start selling the Monsterlino via its U.S. website soon.

Yacht-Inspired One-Off Edition Debuts at Fort Lauderdale
At the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Fiat unveiled a unique Topolino customized in partnership with Italian yacht builder Sanlorenzo. This special edition features premium materials like natural leather, refined fabrics, and teak-inspired marine wood flooring. The seats, dashboard, seat belts, and folding roof also receive bespoke treatments reflecting nautical design, showcasing Fiat’s effort to appeal to lifestyle enthusiasts.

Strong Demand and Accolades
Fiat North America head Andrew Waterhouse noted that demand for the Topolino has exceeded expectations, with some dealerships selling out their initial 2026 allocations. Although exact sales numbers were not shared, this success supports the decision to expand the lineup and include LSV certification.
The Topolino has earned praise in the industry, making TIME magazine’s Best Inventions of 2026 list under design. It was also named the “Neighborhood Green Car of the Year 2027” by Green Car Journal, while Fiat’s larger 500e claimed the “Urban Green Car of the Year 2027.”
More updates and details are expected as 2027 models reach showrooms later this year.
