New Alfa Romeo Giulia Book Celebrates Over 60 Years of Sports Sedan Heritage

At Italy’s biggest classic car event, Auto e Moto d’Epoca Bologna 2026, Alfa Romeo unveiled a new book titled Alfa Romeo Giulia – Timeless Classic. The volume explores the history and evolution of one of the brand’s most iconic sports sedans, highlighting both past and present models that have shaped Alfa Romeo’s legacy.

Tracing Two Generations of the Giulia

The book traces the story of the Giulia from its origins in the 1960s through to the modern era. It showcases how the model has remained popular for decades, balancing tradition with contemporary sportiness. The narrative weaves historical facts with insights from key figures, including Lorenzo Ardizio, curator of the Alfa Romeo Museum and the book’s author, Eugenio Franzetti, Alfa Romeo’s Global Marketing Director, and Alessandro Maccolini, the brand’s Design Project Manager. The trio shared these stories during an event at the Alfa Romeo stand at the show.

The book highlights how the current Giulia, launched in 2015, builds on the spirit of the original, blending cutting-edge technology with Alfa Romeo’s racing heritage.

Four Sports Sedans Showcase Alfa Romeo’s Evolution

At the event, four important sports sedans from Alfa Romeo’s history were on display, representing more than 60 years of development:

  • Giulia TI Super (1963): A lightweight, race-ready version of the original Giulia with a 1.6-liter twin-cam engine. It was well known for class wins and sporty handling.
  • 75 Turbo Evoluzione (1987): A homologation model for Group A racing, featuring a turbocharged 1.8-liter engine and aerodynamic bodywork developed for the World Touring Car Championship.
  • 155 V6 TI “ITC” (1996): A race car built for the International Touring Championship, powered by a high-revving 490 hp V6 engine designed to lower the center of gravity.
  • Giulia Quadrifoglio Super Sport (2024): A limited-run modern special edition with a 520 hp 2.9-liter V6, carbon fiber details, and a new take on the iconic Quadrifoglio badge.

These cars illustrate Alfa Romeo’s ongoing passion for sporty sedans and competition success. The company’s Classiche division also promoted services such as Certificates of Origin and Authenticity to support the preservation of its heritage.

The Book’s Emotional Appeal

The book features a foreword by Alfa Romeo and Maserati CEO Santo Ficili, who describes the Giulia as more than just a car. He calls it a “timeless automobile” that has a special emotional connection with drivers, capturing the heart beyond just technical details.

Published by Giorgio Nada Editore with bilingual Italian and English text, the 208-page book offers a detailed look into the Giulia’s design, engineering, and racing milestones. It includes exclusive photographs and behind-the-scenes stories covering both its past glories and the creation of the modern model.

The book is available at the Bologna show, the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, select bookstores in Italy, and online.

Looking Back and Forward

By displaying these four generations of Giulias and recounting their stories, Alfa Romeo connects its rich past with the future of the sports sedan segment. The new book underscores how the Giulia remains a symbol of the brand’s identity, blending style, performance, and emotion across decades.
