Stellantis Boosts European Market Share with Strong Fiat Growth and Leapmotor Partnership

Stellantis has increased its vehicle registrations in Europe for the first nine months of 2026, thanks largely to the strong performance of Fiat and Citroën. The group’s share in the EU30 market rose to 16.1%, with total registrations hitting nearly 1.93 million units. Including its partner Leapmotor, the combined figure surpassed two million, marking a 6.8% growth.

Fiat Leads Growth Among Stellantis Brands

Fiat was the standout brand within Stellantis, achieving a 20% increase in registrations. Citroën grew by 8.6%, while Lancia and Opel also posted modest gains of 3.5% and 3% respectively. The group has strengthened its hold on the lower-priced segments, supported by models based on the Smart Car platform, such as the Citroën C3, Fiat Grande Panda, and Opel Frontera. These models helped Stellantis maintain leadership in the small A and B segments across Europe.

Impact of Leapmotor Partnership

Adding Leapmotor’s registrations brought the total to 2.014 million vehicles in Europe, about 87,000 more than Stellantis alone. This collaboration lifted the combined market share to 16.9%, an increase of 0.18 percentage points. Leapmotor itself has expanded rapidly, reaching over 100,000 monthly deliveries globally for three months straight and establishing a network of 1,000 sales points in 36 European countries since its 2024 debut.

Regional Market Highlights

The United Kingdom showed a 5.8% rise in Stellantis registrations, supported by increases in Germany (4.2%) and Italy (3.8%). Spain saw a smaller growth of 0.8%. Other countries with notable gains included Austria (20.9%) and Poland (8.1%). Portugal experienced a 4% uplift, with Belgium and Luxembourg together growing 2%.

Strong Positions in Italy and France

Stellantis remains the market leader in Italy, with five of its models ranking in the top ten. The iconic Fiat Panda, known locally as the “Pandina,” leads the sales charts, beating rivals like the Avenger. The Fiat Grande Panda sits fourth, followed by the Citroën C3 in fifth and Peugeot 208 in tenth place. In France, Citroën achieved a 21.2% increase in passenger car registrations in September and holds third place among brands. Peugeot leads in hybrid cars and light commercial vehicles, with four models in the country’s top ten list.

Commercial and Hybrid Market Leadership

Stellantis has a strong grip on the light commercial vehicle market with a 28.1% share through its Stellantis Pro One brand. In hybrid passenger cars, the group holds a 16.5% share. These gains are seen as the result of Stellantis’s FaSTLAne 2030 plan, which focuses on expanding product offerings and electrification.

More details about Stellantis’s strategy and market progress are expected as the year continues.
