Alfa Romeo is set to launch a new model at the end of 2027 to fill the gap between its smaller Junior and the Tonale SUV. This upcoming vehicle will mark a big change by replacing the Giulietta compact car with a sporty crossover featuring modern design and a high-performance Quadrifoglio version.
New Model Takes the Form of a Compact Crossover
The Giulietta’s successor will not be a typical hatchback. Instead, Alfa Romeo is shifting toward a compact crossover style, responding to market demands and lineup spacing. The Tonale is growing slightly larger and edging closer to the size of the Stelvio, leaving a noticeable size gap below it. This new crossover aims to occupy that space with a sportier, more stylish option.
Official previews suggest a dynamic rear design, sharp front headlights, and Alfa Romeo’s signature Scudetto grille. Door handles will be integrated into the window frame for a cleaner look, while wheel sizes could reach up to 20 inches in diameter. The taillight cluster is also expected to receive a fresh, distinctive light signature.
Powertrain Will Include Combustion, Hybrid, and Electrified Options
The model will continue to offer both combustion engines and electrified variants. A turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine is expected to produce about 200 horsepower. There will also be various hybrid options, likely focused on mild hybrid technology, in line with Stellantis’ broader strategy.
More impressively, Alfa Romeo plans a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version with roughly 400 horsepower and all-wheel drive. This will underpin the return of a high-performance Quadrifoglio version, emphasizing sportiness and strong performance for the compact crossover.
Interior and Naming Still Unclear
Details on the cabin remain under wraps. However, Alfa Romeo appears ready to keep a driver-focused, sporty interior that balances tradition with modern technology. While large digital screens will be present, the brand is expected to retain traditional physical controls for climate and frequently used functions to ensure easy access and ergonomic design.
It is also not confirmed whether the new crossover will use the Giulietta name or adopt a completely new one to signal a fresh start for this segment.
Arrival and Expectations
Alfa Romeo confirmed the new crossover will arrive by late 2027, with production and sales starting early in 2028. Spy shots or prototype reveals might appear before then, but the vehicle’s final look and detailed specs will only be clearer as the launch approaches.
