Ram will reintroduce the ProMaster City small work van in early 2027, offering a variety of configurations at a starting price just under $40,000. The new model continues Ram’s presence in the compact commercial van segment, aiming to attract business owners seeking practicality and value.
Pricing and Trim Levels
The base ProMaster City Tradesman Cargo begins at $39,995, which includes a $2,595 destination fee. Ram will also offer a Tradesman Passenger Wagon variant priced at $42,695, capable of seating either five or eight passengers. For buyers wanting more features, the SLT trim is available with a starting price of $41,495 for the cargo version and $44,195 for the passenger model.
The lineup offers 11 different configurations in total. Customers can choose between various window and panel setups along with two rear access options: a liftgate or conventional doors.
Standard and Available Features
The entry-level Tradesman includes a digital rearview mirror, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It also comes with heated front seats and one-touch up/down windows.
Stepping up to the SLT adds wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, 17-inch wheels, fog lamps, and other enhancements designed to improve comfort and practicality.
Platform and Performance Details
The 2027 Ram ProMaster City is built on Stellantis’ K0 platform, which is also used by European vans like the Citroën Dispatch and Opel Vivaro. Under the hood, the van features a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 166 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque.
This new ProMaster City maintains a low height of just 77 inches, which Ram says helps it fit into most parking garages—a useful feature for urban environments. The van is expected to tow about 2,000 pounds and carry more than 2,000 pounds of payload, which should cover many small business needs.
Market Positioning and Availability
Ram’s refreshed ProMaster City aims to fill a similar role as its predecessor but with improved size and versatility more suited to American customers. Unlike the earlier Fiat-based model, this van shares its underpinnings with tested European designs.
