Volkswagen has launched a new, more powerful hybrid version of the T-Roc in Germany. The 2.0 eTSI 4MOTION pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This setup delivers 204 hp and comes with all-wheel drive for the first time in a hybrid T-Roc model.
New 2.0 eTSI Engine with 4MOTION Drives the Range Upgrade
The latest T-Roc introduces an engine not previously offered in the lineup: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol with a mild hybrid system. This system features a belt-driven starter generator that can shut off the engine during coasting, improving fuel efficiency.
The engine produces 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque. Power is sent through a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission (DSG) to Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system. This is the first time the hybrid T-Roc comes with AWD, a feature that was only available on pure combustion engines in the previous generation.
Official WLTP figures list a 0-100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 226 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated between 7.2 and 7.5 litres per 100 kilometres.
Pricing and Availability Details for the New Trim
The new 2.0 eTSI 4MOTION version is already listed in Volkswagen’s German configurator. It is currently available only in the R-Line trim, which is the sportiest and best-equipped option in the T-Roc lineup. Pricing starts from around €49,500 in Germany.
Volkswagen has not yet announced availability for other markets such as Spain, but order books are expected to open before the end of the summer, likely by late September.
Performance Version and Models Ahead
This new powertrain will also be used in the upcoming sporty T-Roc R 4MOTION, expected to launch before the year ends. The new hybrid AWD version adds a fresh option for customers seeking a balance of power, efficiency, and traction in the popular compact SUV segment.
