At the Paris Motor Show 2026, Renault has introduced the E-Space Concept, a daring prototype that revisits the monovolume form and draws inspiration from the original 1984 Espace. Unlike the widespread SUV trend, this concept puts the spotlight on spaciousness and interior comfort, offering a large, light-filled cabin with innovative seating.
A New Take on the Classic Espace
Renault’s E-Space Concept echoes the spirit of the original Espace but presents a modern version with larger dimensions—measuring 4.70 meters long, 2.02 meters wide, and 1.67 meters high. This is notably bigger than the first Espace, signaling a shift away from the compactness emphasized in recent years. The concept rejects the SUV design that dominates the market today, focusing instead on flexible family transport in monovolume style.

Interior Designed as a Living Room on Wheels
Renault has placed the interior design front and center in this concept. The cabin features extensive glass panels integrated seamlessly with a large panoramic glass roof, filling the space with natural light. The absence of a central pillar and the use of rear-hinged double-opening doors make entering easier and highlight the wide, flat floor layout.
Up to six individual seats are arranged inside, all the same size and able to swivel slightly to form a more social environment. The second-row passengers enjoy foldable tables and 12.3-inch screens mounted on the front seatbacks. These seats can also fold flat into a large table for third-row passengers, enhanced by a remote control console with a small fridge and gaming controls.

Cutting-Edge Digital and Material Choices
The front interior is dominated by Renault’s new “OpenR Panorama” display, a 1.13-meter-long curved touchscreen that stretches across the dashboard from pillar to pillar, eliminating the traditional driver’s instruments behind the steering wheel. Renault says this technology will first appear in future Rafale and Scenic models.
The steering wheel itself features a striking design and wireless controls, reinforcing the concept’s high-tech vibe.
Inside, materials emphasize sustainability and style, using recycled components such as dyed straw marquetry, thick wool carpeting, and bio-based paint resins. The vivid red hues throughout the interior add a distinctive character.

Prototype Status and Future Outlook
Renault has not detailed the powertrain of the E-Space Concept, nor confirmed any production plans. The focus remains on interior innovation and space, with the possibility of electric technology given Renault’s recent moves. The design points to a potential revival of the Espace nameplate in a form quite distinct from the SUV versions now offered.
More details are expected as Renault prepares to bring elements of this concept into future models, particularly in their family vehicle range.
