European Union 1999–2003

Bmw 3 Series, 5 Series, X5

null If the driver's airbag is deployed, the inflator might burst if it was subject to high air humidity, high temperatures and substantial temperature fluctuations over a number of years. This may result in the ejection of metal parts, which could cause injury or death to the driver and the passengers.
European Union 2016–2017

Bmw X1 Series

null The necessary opening lines in the area of the passenger airbag cover may not have been machined correctly. In the event of an accident, the passenger airbag may consequently not be able to unfold correctly, increasing the risk of injury for the passenger. European Union 2010–2011

Bmw 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, X1, Z4 Series

null The universal joint of the drive shaft might break, causing a sudden loss of propulsion.
European Union 2016

Bmw Series 2, Series 4, Series 5, Series 6, M4, M5, M6, X1, BMW i3, BMW i8, MINI

null The side, head and knee protection airbags of the front passenger seat may not work. This could increase the risk of injury to the occupant in the event of an accident.
European Union 2016

Bmw 2 Series Active Tourer, X1

null The latch mechanism of the rear seat backrests might not have been welded properly. As a result, the rear seat backrest may fold inadvertently in an accident and increase the risk of personal injury.
European Union 2011–2016

Bmw Series 1, Series 2, Series 3, Series 4, X3, X4, X5, X6, i8

null The control unit of the electronic power steering may have been incorrectly manufactured. This may cause a fire even when the vehicle is parked.
European Union 2008–2012

Bmw 7 Series, 5 Series, 5 Series Gran Turismo

null The airbag central sensor has been programmed with faulty software. In the event of an accident requiring activation of the passive safety systems, the seat-belt tensioner, front airbags and active head restraints will not be activated, increasing the risk of injury to the occupants.
European Union 2014

Bmw X3, X4, X5, X6

null The housing of the driver's airbag inflator may have been incorrectly welded. In the event of an accident involving airbag deployment, the inflator may rupture.
European Union 2014–2016

Bmw M2 Coupé, M3 Limousine, M4 Coupé, M4 Cabrio, M4 GTS

null The bolts of the rear-axle support may potentially not have been replaced in the course of the replacement of the rear-axle differential. The bolts might loosen over time.
European Union 2010–2016

Bmw X3 and X4

null The four ISOFIX child-seat attachment brackets on the rear seats are insufficiently strong and could break when under stress from dynamic turning movements. This could increase the risk of injury in the event of an accident.
European Union 2014–2015

Bmw 7 Series

null There might be a metallic stamping residue inside the housing of the airbag control unit. In case of a crash, it might come into contact with the circuit board and cause a short circuit.
European Union 2011–2015

Bmw C 600 Sport / C 650 GT

null The positioning of the chafer can cause damage to the front brake hose and lead to a loss of brake fluid. This can reduce brake performance and could lead to accidents. European Union 2015

Bmw i3 / i8

null The power electronics have not been calibrated properly which might increase the recuperation torque during the vehicle's deceleration. In this case, the vehicle might skid in slippery road conditions.
European Union 2015

Bmw i8

null Due to a manufacturing fault, the Hydro Unit Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) function could be impaired. The dynamic stability of the vehicle might be affected adversely in critical driving situations.
European Union 2002–2006

Bmw 3 series, 5 series, X5

null The inflater of the driver's airbag may burst when the airbag is activated if it has been exposed to high humidity over a number of years. If the inflater bursts, metal parts may be expelled and cause serious or fatal injuries.
European Union 2012–2015

Bmw G 650 GS; G 650 GS Sertão

null The data status of the engine management ECU (Engine Control Unit) is incorrect. This can result in incorrect positioning of the idle actuator, causing the engine to stall if revolutions drop to idle speed with the clutch lever pulled.
European Union 2015

Bmw M550d, 750d, 750Ld

null Owing to a process error with the engine assembly, the chain tensioner may not have been tightened to specification, resulting in damage to the chain tensioner. In the worst case the chain tensioner may break and result in a large-scale oil leak, which may cause a potential risk for other road users.
European Union 2002–2011

Bmw R1200GS, R1200GS Adventure, HP2 Mega Moto, HP2 Enduro, R1200RT, R900RT, R1200R, R1200ST, R1200S, HP2

null During servicing of brake discs or when wheels are changed, the bolts may be tightened with excessive tightening torque. Cracks may appear in the wheel flange as a result.
European Union 2008–2014

Bmw S 1000 RR (K46), S 1000 RR (K46/11), K 1300 S (K40/11), K 1300 R (K43/11)

null Vibrations can develop in the front tyre of the motorcycle, with cracks appearing in the tread and belt of the tyre, which can result in the tyre losing air and the rider falling off.
European Union 2012–2014

Bmw C650 GT and C600 Sport

null Potential weakening of the chain tensioner through wear can gradually lead to the chain not being tight enough which could result in engine failure.
