Fiat’s New SUVs Set to Form Basis of Chrysler’s US Comeback

Fiat is gearing up to launch a new range of SUVs called Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback by late 2026. These models will use Stellantis’ Smart Car platform and offer multiple powertrain options, including electric versions. Interestingly, these Fiat SUVs are likely to be rebadged as Chrysler models for the US market, supporting Chrysler’s push to expand beyond minivans.

Fiat Grizzly Models and Key Features

The Grizzly lineup includes two SUVs roughly 173 and 177 inches long. They come with gas, mild-hybrid, and full electric powertrains, reaching up to 145 hp depending on version and market. Inside, buyers can expect a large 12.3-inch infotainment screen paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument display. Advanced driver assistance features at Level 2 will also be available.

Chrysler’s Role in the US Market

Chrysler, currently focused on minivans after ending the 300 sedan, plans to re-enter the crossover segment with two smaller crossovers based on the Grizzly SUVs. These US-bound models are reportedly called Arrow and Arrow Cross. The Arrow will be based on the sleeker Grizzly Fastback, while the boxier Grizzly will become the Arrow Cross.

Stellantis aims to price these Chrysler crossovers between $25,000 and $35,000, with starting prices under $30,000. The company wants the Chrysler versions to stand apart through unique styling and interior touches, avoiding the close resemblance seen in some past shared products.

Expansion and Future Plans

Fiat models remain a niche offering in the US, with only the 500e currently available. The Grande Panda and other models have no confirmed US launch. Meanwhile, Stellantis is also working on a new Ram compact pickup based on the South American Rampage, aiming to boost its North American lineup.

This strategy is part of Stellantis’ FaSTLAne 2030 plan, focusing on four global priority brands: Fiat, Jeep, Ram, and Peugeot. Chrysler’s role is shifting to a regional brand built on global platforms but customized for North America. The rebadged Grizzly SUVs could mark the start of this new approach.
