A fresh digital concept of the Fiat Freemont shows a major redesign, shifting away from its original Dodge Journey roots and adopting styling inspired by the Jeep Compass. This new look was created by digital artist Kleber Silva, known as KDesign, who aligns the design with Fiat’s recent models.
From Dodge Journey to Jeep Compass Architecture
The original Fiat Freemont, launched in 2011 during the Fiat-Chrysler partnership, was essentially a rebadged Dodge Journey. It featured a 4.89-metre body with seating for seven and was produced in Mexico. Its lineup started with a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine offering either 140 hp or 170 hp, later including an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Fiat also refined the vehicle’s suspension, steering, and soundproofing to better suit European drivers.
In contrast, this new digital version swaps the Journey’s softer, rounded shape for the squared profile, pronounced wheel arches, and nearly flat roofline typical of the Jeep Compass. This shift hints at a modern, more rugged style for the upcoming Freemont.

Design Features and Interior Update in the Digital Concept
The render shows a light blue body with a black roof, rugged black cladding, silver roof rails, and two-tone wheels. The front fascia features a wide black grille element framing the Fiat badge, reminiscent of the brand’s Grande Panda model. At the rear, dark trim surrounds segmented taillights with the Freemont name prominently displayed along with a “Hybrid” badge — a choice by the designer without confirmed powertrain details.
The interior retains the Jeep-based layout but swaps in a Fiat badge on the steering wheel. It includes digital instrument displays, an infotainment touchscreen, and a rotary gear selector, suggesting a blend of Jeep practicality and modern Fiat tech.

What This Means for Fiat’s SUV Lineup
Fiat is currently expanding its SUV range with new models like the Grizzly and Grizzly Fastback, revealed recently at the Paris Motor Show. Both measure under 4.5 metres and cater to combustion, hybrid, and electric setups. The Freemont’s fresh design direction with Jeep Compass influences could signal Fiat’s intent to modernize its SUV offerings and better align with current platforms within the Stellantis group.
While Fiat has not officially announced plans to revive the Freemont, this digital concept points to the potential styling and architectural direction a future model might take. The addition of a hybrid badge suggests electrified powertrain options could play a part if the vehicle returns.
Industry figures like Arnaud Belloni and Antonio Filosa have indicated that Fiat is working on smaller competitive models and considering production factors such as energy costs and logistics, which may influence upcoming launches including any new Freemont.
