BMW has unveiled the i3 First Edition at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Following strong market interest, the German automaker started accepting pre-orders earlier than planned, with deliveries expected to begin this autumn in Europe.
Early Pre-Orders and Market Response
Originally set to open for pre-orders in autumn, the new BMW i3 began accepting bookings in mid-June due to positive customer feedback. Although exact order numbers have not been released, BMW decided to accelerate the launch timeline to meet demand ahead of schedule.

Standard 20-inch wheels come with an option to downgrade to 19 inches. Each model includes the M Sport package and the distinctive Iconic Glow grille with illuminated kidney grilles.

- Additional driver assistance and safety features
Currently, the BMW online configurator does not list the i3 First Edition. Buyers must order through dealerships until the online tool officially launches this autumn alongside the standard i3 model.

Pricing and Production
The UK starting price for the i3 First Edition is around €69,000 (approx. £57,905). The standard i3 starts at approximately €63,000 (around £53,005). BMW plans to begin production at its Munich plant in August.
Why It Matters
The early launch and strong response to the i3 First Edition show BMW’s confidence in this electric sedan. With its blend of style, tech, and expanded options, the i3 aims to compete in Europe’s growing EV market. Delivery timing and additional versions launching this autumn will be key to watch.
