Avatr, the Chinese luxury brand partly owned by Changan and CATL, presented the Concept T09 at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. This concept previews the international version of the T09 flagship SUV, which launched in China earlier this year. The move marks Avatr’s growing global ambitions, with an international release expected in late 2027.
Concept T09 Reflects Avatr’s Entry into Ultra-Luxury SUVs
The Concept T09 showcased in Paris closely resembles the production T09 sold in China, suggesting limited design changes before its international launch. The SUV aims to compete with established luxury models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Audi Q9, and BMW X7. It features a three-row layout, targeting customers needing both space and premium features.
Measuring about 5.20 meters long and 2.0 meters wide, the T09 is a large SUV by any standard. Inside, it offers a distinctive digital setup with three screens stretching across the dashboard. This setup includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and two 17.2-inch screens for the center console and front passenger.

Powertrain Options Highlight Extended-Range Electric Setup
The T09’s powertrains utilize extended-range electric technology rather than a fully electric system. According to Chinese government filings, one variant combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine (105 kW) with electric motors producing 18 kW at the front and 310 kW at the rear. Another option pairs a 2.0-liter turbo engine (150 kW) with a front motor delivering 180 kW and a rear motor rated at 225 kW. Both use a 71 kWh ternary battery from CATL.

European Launch and Availability
Avatr plans to bring its lineup to Europe starting early next year, initially focusing on smaller models like the 07 SUV and 06T sports wagon in markets such as Spain and Norway. The T09 flagship is not expected to arrive in Europe until late 2027, allowing time for any necessary adaptations to European regulations and customer preferences.
The 2026 Paris Motor Show spotlights how Chinese manufacturers, including Avatr, are increasingly active internationally. This growing presence is helping keep traditional car shows relevant and shaping the premium SUV segment across key markets.
