Alfa Romeo introduced the Edizione Luna Rossa special edition lineup during the second Preliminary Regatta for the 2027 America’s Cup in Naples. This new series includes four models—the Junior, Tonale, Giulia, and Stelvio—each tailored with unique sailing-inspired design elements and advanced materials. The launch marks a deepening collaboration between Alfa Romeo and the Luna Rossa sailing team, linking Italian automotive and nautical excellence.
Sailing-Inspired Design and Materials Across Four Models
The Edizione Luna Rossa series draws inspiration from the Luna Rossa sailing team’s aesthetic, featuring a palette of white, black, gray, and red colors reminiscent of racing yachts. Each car carries a special red Alfa Romeo logo, while distinctive graphics and trims highlight the collaboration.
The Junior and Tonale models emphasize modern design and innovation. Both sport a new gray paint color nodding to the team’s flotation devices, alongside Gloss Black details and a unique side graphic inspired by a taut sailing line. Interior upgrades include 3D Knit upholstery—a first for Stellantis—which offers a textured, sustainable fabric made more efficiently with less waste. The Junior features 18-inch wheels, while the Tonale receives exclusive 20-inch Gloss Black rims.
Giulia and Stelvio represent the premium end of the lineup, showcasing the most exclusive features. Extensive use of carbon fiber appears on exterior parts such as mirror caps and badges, while interiors blend leather with ECONYL fabric made partly from recovered fishing nets. Both models come with dark-toned wheels and red brake calipers, highlighting their sporty character.

Technology and Performance Highlights
The Edizione Luna Rossa models combine sporty flair with advanced tech. Junior offers hybrid and fully electric powertrains, including a 145 hp 1.2-liter turbo hybrid and a 156 hp electric version powered by a 54 kWh battery. Tonale’s lineup includes plug-in hybrid, standard hybrid, and diesel options, with power outputs up to 270 hp in the PHEV Q4 model.
Giulia and Stelvio editions come with 2.2-liter turbodiesels producing either 160 hp (rear-wheel drive) or 210 hp with Q4 all-wheel drive, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. In certain markets like the UK, a 280 hp 2.0-liter petrol engine is also available. They feature electronically controlled suspension and premium Harman Kardon audio, with an electric sunroof standard on Giulia and optional on Stelvio.
Alfa Romeo’s Role Extends Beyond Branding
The partnership between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa goes beyond sponsorship. Alfa Romeo has contributed its vehicle dynamics expertise and advanced simulator technology to help develop Luna Rossa’s sail control systems. The Alfa Romeo driving simulator, a leader within Stellantis for technology and methodology, supports virtual analysis and fine-tuning software for managing sail movement. This exchange of knowledge reflects a shared commitment to innovation and performance in both automotive and sailing fields.
Limited Special Editions Follow Earlier Collaboration
This release builds upon Alfa Romeo’s previous joint project, the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa—a limited run of just ten units featuring a carbon-fiber aerodynamic kit. The Edizione Luna Rossa series expands the collaboration across more models, with availability planned progressively across European markets. It positions itself as the top-tier offering on each model’s lineup, giving buyers a blend of Italian sportiness and the spirit of competitive sailing.
The Edizione Luna Rossa introduction at the Naples regatta underscores Alfa Romeo’s link with Luna Rossa as they prepare for the 38th America’s Cup, hosted in Italy for the first time. The special series celebrates this event with Italian craftsmanship and nautical inspiration.
