Fiat is exploring a fresh take on family cars by developing a new C-segment model that combines the practicality of a hatchback with SUV-like features. The idea, revealed by Fiat CEO Arnaud Belloni, draws inspiration from the Dacia Striker and aims to offer buyers an alternative to traditional SUVs.
Combining Space and SUV Appeal
The Dacia Striker serves as a benchmark for Fiat’s concept. The Striker measures 4.62 meters long, stands about 1.53 meters tall, and offers ground clearance around 19 to 20 centimeters depending on the drive system. It also provides a generous 602 liters of trunk space and starts at approximately €24,600 in Europe. Notably, it is available with three hybrid powertrains.
Fiat wants to bring a similar blend of space, practicality, and rugged looks in a family car that appeals to those wanting a higher driving position without fully committing to an SUV.

New Direction Beyond Traditional Models
This concept is part of Fiat’s effort to rethink family vehicles beyond the usual station wagon or crossover styles. In the past, Fiat experimented with models like the Stilo Uproad, which added adventure-style features, and the Marea Weekend, known for a lower fold-down tailgate section. These attempts aimed to increase versatility in family cars.
Belloni also mentioned classic models such as the Renault 20 and Chrysler 1307/1308 to highlight how previous family cars organized space efficiently, focusing on a two-box layout that separates passenger and cargo areas—a layout Fiat intends to revisit in a modern form.

Placement Within Stellantis Lineup
This new model would likely be positioned above the Fiat Grizzly Fastback, and it will need to fit alongside existing family cars within Stellantis, like the Peugeot 308 SW and Opel Astra Sports Tourer. The precise body style is still uncertain—Belloni talks about a “modern hatchback,” while one report calls it a rugged station wagon. Both reflect a spacious vehicle with large wheels and distinctive proportions compared to today’s popular crossovers.
Fiat has not yet shared timelines for the model’s launch or further details, indicating the project is still in the evaluation phase.
