Volkswagen Launches ID. Tiguan Electric SUV with Up to 299 HP and 580 km Range

Volkswagen has introduced the new ID. Tiguan, an all-electric SUV that succeeds the ID.4 in its lineup. The model boasts up to 299 horsepower and a top WLTP range of 580 kilometres. Spain is among the first markets to get official pricing ahead of deliveries early next year.

Trim Levels and Features

The ID. Tiguan will be offered in three main trims at launch: Match, Life, and Style. Volkswagen plans to add a sportier R-Line version later. The base Match trim includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes with dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

The Life trim builds on this with tinted rear windows, a three-zone climate system, wireless phone charging, keyless entry and start, heated front seats, and an electric tailgate.

At the top, the Style trim adds 20-inch wheels, advanced Matrix IQ.LIGHT headlights, full 3D LED rear lights, and an ambient lighting system with 30 colour options. The seats feature ArtVelours upholstery with contrasting central bands.

Powertrain Options and Range

The ID. Tiguan arrives with three electric powertrain choices, all qualifying for zero-emission benefits under Spain’s DGT classification.

  • The entry-level model has a 58 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery paired with a rear-mounted electric motor producing 140 kW (190 hp). It offers a WLTP range of about 425 km.
  • The mid-range version features a larger 77 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery and a 210 kW (286 hp) rear-wheel-drive motor. This setup delivers the longest WLTP range at 580 km.
  • The top-spec ID. Tiguan is the only all-wheel-drive variant with two motors (one on each axle) producing a combined 220 kW (299 hp). It uses the same 77 kWh NMC battery and achieves up to 565 km WLTP range.

Production and Availability

The new ID. Tiguan is made at Volkswagen’s Emden plant in Germany. Pre-orders in Spain start in October, with first deliveries expected early next year. Pricing in Spain begins at €43,352 for the 190 hp version, rising to €55,655 for the highest power all-wheel-drive model.

This marks Volkswagen’s first electric Tiguan, aiming to offer a fresh electric SUV option in the compact segment with improved range and tech compared to the outgoing ID.4 and ID.5 models.
