Chinese automaker BYD has revealed its new flagship electric SUV, the Atto 8, targeting the European market. This seven-seat model features fast FLASH Charging technology and offers a maximum WLTP range of 653 kilometers.
Large SUV with Updated Design
The BYD Atto 8 measures 5.04 meters in length, placing it firmly in the large E-SUV category. Its exterior shows BYD’s latest design language, with slim daytime running lights and Matrix LED headlights at the front. The side profile highlights a strong shoulder line and muscular rear wheel arches. At the back, the taillights feature a signature infinite knot design surrounding a lit BYD logo, complemented by a roof spoiler.

Spacious and Comfortable Cabin
Inside, the Atto 8 focuses on spaciousness and comfort, offering seven seats as standard. The digital driver display spans 10.25 inches, alongside a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 26-inch panoramic head-up display. Front seats come with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, with the second row also offering heated seats and the third row equipped with adjustable headrests.

Strong Performance and Impressive Range
The Atto 8 comes in two versions: the rear-wheel-drive Design trim and the all-wheel-drive Excellence trim. Both use a second-generation 115 kWh Blade Battery.

- The Design RWD model produces 340 kW (462 hp) and 365 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and offers a WLTP range of up to 653 km.
- The Excellence AWD adds a front motor, raising combined output to 570 kW (775 hp) and 775 Nm, cutting 0-100 km/h time to 4.6 seconds with a 602 km WLTP range.
FLASH Charging Technology and Infrastructure
The Atto 8 is BYD’s first European model equipped with FLASH Charging, capable of charging from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. Even in very cold conditions (down to -30 ºC), it can charge from 20% to 97% within 12 minutes.
BYD is also launching a European network of FLASH Charging stations, aiming for 3,000 ultra-fast chargers by the end of 2027. Spain will receive about 300 and Portugal 50 stations as part of this rollout.

Launch Plans and Pricing
The BYD Atto 8 is set to arrive in Spanish dealerships in the first quarter of 2027. Price details are not yet available, but it is expected to be priced above the BYD Tang, which currently starts around €72,000 in Spain.
BYD intends for the Atto 8 to serve as its new flagship SUV in Europe, initially coexisting with the Tang before fully taking over that market segment.
