Peugeot has introduced the E-T16 Concept, a striking electric concept car that pays tribute to the legendary 205 T16 rally car. This concept also closely previews the all-new Peugeot E-208, set to reach dealers in 2027.
A Powerful nod to the 205 T16 Rally Legacy
The Peugeot E-T16 Concept celebrates the 40th anniversary of the 205 T16’s double victory in the 1985 and 1986 World Rally Championships. This achievement is a significant part of French motorsport history. Peugeot chose the upcoming 2026 Paris Motor Show to debut the concept, highlighting its link to the brand’s rallying past while embracing the future of electric mobility.

Bold Design Reflects Future Peugeot Style
The E-T16 Concept features Peugeot’s new “Feline Future” design language, which will influence future models including the 2027 E-208. Its exterior commands attention with large air intakes, a sleek hood, and a distinctive front light signature. This light feature reimagines Peugeot’s classic “three claw” motif into a horizontal set of three slim light strips surrounding an illuminated Peugeot badge.
The body sports a Winchester Mat Grey paint, referencing the heritage of the 205 T16, and rides on silver Michelin performance tires. At the back, a full-width horizontal light bar and an aggressive diffuser with large “cat ear” style rear wing underline the concept’s sporty character.

Futuristic and Racing-Inspired Cabin
Inside, the E-T16 hints at the next E-208’s interior with a fully digital Peugeot i-Cockpit. A new Hypersquare steering wheel is the centerpiece, although the production car will replace its embedded screen with an airbag for safety. The dashboard features a large 21-inch panoramic HD screen combining the instrument cluster and infotainment system, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The cabin design incorporates bold red accents, aluminum finishes, and carbon fiber trim, emphasizing a race-oriented atmosphere. Front bucket seats feature carbon fiber frames and upholstery made from a mix of technical fabric and recycled PELINOVA leather.

High-Performance Electric Powertrain with Fast Charging
Under the skin, the E-T16 Concept uses an 85 kWh NMC battery to power three electric motors—one at the front axle and two at the rear—delivering a combined output of 816 horsepower. This power-to-weight ratio (2 kg per hp) enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 2.5 seconds. It can reach 300 km/h in 16 seconds.
The all-electric architecture runs at 800 volts and offers a WLTP range of around 400 kilometres. Fast charging technology allows rapid replenishment from 10% to 80% battery charge in under 15 minutes. The car also includes selectable driving modes, with a dedicated Track mode to maximize performance on race circuits.

Preview of the 2027 Peugeot E-208
The E-T16 Concept is more than a tribute; it sets the stage for the upcoming electric Peugeot 208 due in 2027. The new generation model is expected to adopt this fresh design and advanced technology, positioning it strongly against competitors like the Renault 5 and Volkswagen ID. Polo. Spy shots of the E-208 show that Peugeot is in the final development stages of this crucial model.
More details about the production E-208, including pricing and exact performance specs, are expected closer to its official launch in 2027.
