Dacia Launches First Hybrid Sandero With 155 HP, Making It the Cheapest Hybrid in Its Segment

Dacia has introduced a significant update with the new Sandero Hybrid 155, marking the first time the Sandero model features electrification. This launch in mid-2026 positions the Sandero Hybrid as not only the most powerful Sandero ever but also the most affordable hybrid in the B-segment.

First Electrified Sandero With Hybrid Technology

The new Sandero Hybrid represents a big step for Dacia’s best-selling model, which has sold over 400,000 units in Spain since 2008. It uses a self-charging hybrid system combining a 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with two electric motors. A four-speed intelligent automatic transmission manages the power delivery to the front wheels, with two gears dedicated to electric drive. The car includes a 1.4 kWh NMC battery to enable limited electric-only driving in certain conditions.

This hybrid system allows the Sandero to display the ECO environmental badge from Spain’s DGT, offering owners benefits in low-emission zones.

More Power Than Ever in a Sandero

Beyond electrification, the Sandero Hybrid 155 packs a total of 155 horsepower, combining 109 hp from the petrol engine with 50 hp from the electric motor responsible for propulsion. This output surpasses previous Sandero performance versions, including the Renault Sandero R.S. sold outside Europe. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 8.3 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. The hybrid powertrain is made in Spain, with the engine built in Valladolid and the automatic transmission produced in Sevilla.

Available in Both Sedan and Stepway Styles

The Sandero Hybrid launched first in the Stepway version, the more rugged and popular crossover-style model. Since the Stepway accounts for 76% of Sandero sales in Spain, Dacia prioritized this variant for hybrid introduction. The Stepway maintains its characteristic robustness and spaciousness while benefiting from the new hybrid drivetrain. A standard Sandero Hybrid will also be offered, expanding choice for buyers looking for a hybrid hatchback.

Low Fuel Consumption Despite Higher Power

Thanks to the hybrid system, the Sandero Hybrid manages impressive efficiency. According to WLTP testing, it consumes just 4.2 litres per 100 kilometres on average, with the Stepway trailing only slightly at 4.4 litres. The small battery supports up to 80% of urban driving in pure electric mode, and the vehicle always starts on electric power to save fuel.

Leading Price Position in the B-Segment Hybrid Market

Most notably, Dacia claims the Sandero Hybrid 155 is the most affordable hybrid in its class. Pricing in Spain starts from €19,890 for the regular Sandero Hybrid and €21,290 for the Stepway version. These prices position the Sandero Hybrid strongly as buyers look for cost-effective electrified options amid rising hybrid variants from other brands.

The new Sandero Hybrid launch shows Dacia’s approach to making electrification accessible without compromising power or usability. More details about additional trims and markets are expected as the launch approaches.
