Mercedes CLE Cabrio Facelift 2027 Spied With New Tech and V8 Return

Mercedes is preparing an update for its entry-level convertible, the CLE Cabrio, set for early 2027. Spy photos reveal that while the exterior changes are subtle, significant updates come inside and under the hood, including the return of a powerful V8 engine option.

Subtle Exterior Refresh

The facelifted CLE Cabrio keeps its sleek silhouette mostly unchanged, showing only minor tweaks typical of a mid-cycle update. It features a revised front bumper with updated air intakes and new Full LED headlights with Mercedes’ signature light design. A refreshed rear with the classic three-pointed star completes the look without altering the model’s recognizable style.

Interior and Technology Updates

Inside, the CLE facelift adopts the new MB.OS operating system, replacing the previous MBUX platform. The layout remains familiar, preserving the dual-screen setup with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 12.4-inch center touchscreen. Mercedes has added a new multifunction steering wheel with physical buttons and relocated the driver monitoring camera above the center air vents. This camera supports driver assistance features and video calls.

Advanced driver aids will benefit from Nvidia-powered technology, enhancing systems including parking assistance. A highlight will be the introduction of the MB.Assist Pro system, arriving in early 2027. This system offers level 2++ autonomous driving capabilities, allowing the CLE Cabrio to handle more self-driving functions.

Powertrain Enhancements Including V8 Revival

The engine range will feature updates too. The CLE will continue to offer four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines with mild hybrid (MHEV) technology. More potent six-cylinder 3.0-liter units will also carry over with improvements.

Sportier trims will see notable changes. The CLE 53 and the top-tier CLE 63 AMG 4MATIC will be equipped with an upgraded 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing close to 600 horsepower. This marks the return of the V8 for the convertible, making it a highly attractive option for buyers seeking power and open-air driving.

The updated Mercedes CLE Cabrio is expected to go on sale next spring, offering a blend of subtle design tweaks, upgraded tech, and now stronger engines.
