2027 Range Rover Facelift Spotted Shedding Camouflage During Testing

Land Rover has been busy expanding its electric lineup, but the brand is also preparing a mid-cycle refresh of the flagship Range Rover. Spy photos show the updated SUV losing much of its camouflage during testing at the Nürburgring, revealing some of the exterior changes expected for the new model year, likely arriving in early 2027 or 2028.

Visible Exterior Updates on the Range Rover

The prototype photographed near the Nürburgring shows the front end without the usual thick plastic concealment that typically hides design tweaks. The new grille and front bumper design are clearly visible, signaling a fresh look for the big SUV. At the rear, there is a reworked bumper that integrates horizontal rear fog and reverse light strips differently from before.

Earlier in the summer, a similar facelift with less camouflage was spotted on the Range Rover Sport, and now the flagship Range Rover is following suit. These visible updates suggest Land Rover aims to modernize the appearance without a full redesign.

Interior and Powertrain Expected to Stay Mostly the Same

Along with the exterior revisions, Land Rover is said to be updating the Range Rover’s interior, although the details remain under wraps. There are no reports of major changes in the cabin layout or technology systems so far.

Importantly, the current powertrain options are expected to continue unchanged. Customers will still find gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric variants in the lineup. This mid-cycle update focuses mainly on styling and minor equipment tweaks rather than a complete mechanical overhaul.

New Electric Models Joining the Range Rover Family

The facelift test is happening alongside Land Rover’s push into electrification. Along with the recently introduced Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric, the company has teased a third electrified model called the Range Rover GT. This new model is said to have a liftback sedan style and will also feature hybrid options. However, this model is separate from the refreshed Range Rover being tested now.

Land Rover is also expanding partnerships to make some models in the US through Stellantis, hinting at more diverse offerings like a Defender pickup and a compact EV Defender. Still, the Range Rover facelift remains a key near-term focus.

Overall, these latest spy photos confirm Land Rover’s plan to refresh the Range Rover with subtle design updates and some interior changes while keeping existing engine choices. More official information should emerge as the launch date approaches.
