Kia is set to launch the refreshed 2027 Niro hybrid this summer. The compact crossover features updated styling, a more modern interior, and keeps its hybrid powertrain while dropping the electric-only model.
New Styling for 2027
The 2027 Niro shows off redesigned front and rear ends. At the back, it has a sleek bumper and tailgate with slim vertical taillights that angle inward. The front fascia follows Kia’s “opposites united” design, mixing vertical and horizontal light elements. Additionally, the C-pillars are now body-colored, giving the crossover a smoother look.
Upgraded Interior and Tech
The interior is noticeably more upscale. Drivers can choose an optional 12.3-inch digital instrument screen, replacing the older 4-inch display. All Niro models come standard with a 12.3-inch curved infotainment screen. Features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across all trims, including the new entry-level S trim.
Vehicles equipped with Kia’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit will support over-the-air updates, improving software without visits to the dealer.
Hybrid Powertrain Remains
The freshened Niro sticks with a hybrid-only powertrain featuring a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. The system uses a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and delivers 139 horsepower. Kia has dropped the Niro EV for 2027, focusing solely on hybrid models as hybrid sales rise sharply.
Sales and Pricing
The Niro had strong first-half 2026 U.S. sales, with 13,767 units sold—a 17 percent increase over last year. Kia reported a 187 percent jump in hybrid sales in June, underlining growing demand. While final prices for the 2027 Niro will be announced later, the 2026 model started around €27,000 and went up to roughly €35,500 including shipping, positioning the Niro as an affordable choice for eco-conscious buyers.
Why It Matters
The 2027 Kia Niro’s refresh keeps it competitive in the compact hybrid segment. With sharper styling, improved tech, and a focus on hybrid efficiency, it appeals to buyers looking for a practical and modern crossover. Dropping the EV hints at Kia’s strategic shift as hybrid demand grows, making the Niro an important part of Kia’s lineup moving forward.
