Jeep Launches Powerful Electric Compass 4xe with Off-Road Focus

Jeep has introduced a fully electric version of its Compass SUV, called the Compass 4xe Full Electric. This model stands out by combining a strong electric powertrain with serious off-road features. It offers 375 horsepower and all-wheel drive, aiming to maintain Jeep’s off-road reputation while going electric.

Electric Powertrain with Impressive Torque

The Compass 4xe uses two electric motors, one on each axle. This setup delivers independent power to the front and rear wheels without a physical driveshaft connecting them. The rear motor includes a 14:1 reduction gear and can provide about 2,286 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. This enables the SUV to climb slopes of up to 20%, even if the front wheels lose traction.

Upgraded Chassis and Off-Road Hardware

Jeep has raised the Compass 4xe by around 0.4 inches for better ground clearance. It can ford water up to 18.9 inches deep, an important feature for off-road use. The redesign also includes new bumpers that improve the approach, breakover, and departure angles to 28, 17, and 31 degrees respectively. These changes enhance the vehicle’s ability to handle tough terrain.

Selectable Terrain Modes Tailored for Different Conditions

The Compass 4xe features a system called Selec-Terrain with five driving modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud, and 4WD Lock. Each mode adjusts the vehicle’s behavior:

  • Auto: Focuses on comfort and efficiency for daily driving.
  • Sport: Likely enhances throttle and handling dynamics (not explicitly detailed).
  • Snow: Reduces power output to improve grip on slippery surfaces.
  • Sand/Mud: Delivers full power with settings optimized for loose terrain.
  • 4WD Lock: Keeps power evenly distributed between axles for maximum traction.

Interior Designed for Outdoor Use

The cabin is built with durability in mind, featuring polyurethane-coated seat fabric claimed to be twice as tough as usual cloth. Scratch-resistant rear seatbacks protect from pets and gear, and heavy-duty rubber mats handle dirt and moisture. A large 16-inch infotainment screen is the dashboard highlight.

Another Electric Compass Option Focuses on Range

Alongside the 4xe, Jeep offers a Compass Full Electric Long Range model. This front-wheel-drive SUV produces 231 horsepower and can travel up to 419 miles on the WLTP cycle, thanks to a 96.3-kWh usable battery. This version lacks the 4xe’s off-road features but offers more driving distance per charge.

Two Distinct Electric Compasses for Different Needs

Jeep’s electric Compass lineup targets two groups. The 4xe model balances power and off-road ability with its dual motors, extra ground clearance, and terrain modes. Meanwhile, the Long Range version suits buyers who want more range without the off-road focus.

European Launch and Availability

Jeep began taking orders for the new Compass 4xe in Europe from June 2026. The SUV’s powerful and capable electric setup makes it one of the most serious off-roaders with an electric drivetrain in its segment.
