Volkswagen Multivan 2027 Reveals First Prices and Key Details in Europe

Volkswagen is preparing to open orders for the refreshed Multivan 2027 in Europe. The updated monovolume brings a more modern look, new tech features, and efficient powertrain options, including diesel and plug-in hybrid versions.

Updated Design and Lighting

The 2027 Volkswagen Multivan features a refreshed front end with larger LED headlights that offer a distinctive light signature. These headlights provide better illumination on straight roads and when cornering. A horizontal illuminated glass strip connects the headlights on higher trims, giving the model a sleeker appearance. Volkswagen also introduces three new two-tone paint options and a new matte finish. The alloy wheel range grows with five new designs sized 17, 18, and 19 inches.

Interior Enhancements and New Features

Inside, the Multivan’s dashboard reflects design cues from the ID. Buzz electric model. It incorporates a new digital instrument cluster with three selectable views, a large 12.9-inch touchscreen for infotainment, and illuminated slider controls for sound and climate.

  • Wireless charging for smartphones at 25 W
  • USB-C ports with 60 W output
  • Illuminated cup holders and ambient lighting
  • Traffic light recognition and lane change assist on highways
  • Emergency assist system
  • Electric stationary climate control
  • Electric AGR ErgoComfort front seats with memory functions

The redesigned center console includes buttons for sliding door operation (optional) and an electronic parking brake. The “Life” and “Style” trims offer a new eight-seat layout with independent seats in the second row facing each other. This seating option is only available with the diesel variant.

Efficient Powertrains for Different Needs

The Multivan 2027 is offered in two wheelbase options: 4,970 mm (short) and 5,170 mm (long). Initially, it arrives in Europe with two powertrains:

  • eHybrid 4MOTION: A plug-in hybrid version delivering 245 hp from a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine combined with two electric motors. It uses a 19.7 kWh lithium-ion battery that enables nearly 100 km of electric range. The system provides all-wheel drive by using the front motor as a generator to power the rear motor when the battery is depleted.
  • TDI 150: A 150 hp diesel engine with front-wheel drive and an automatic DSG transmission.

Pricing and Availability

In Sweden, pricing for the Multivan 2027 starts around €55,000 for the diesel version and approximately €62,500 for the plug-in hybrid. European launch is expected in October 2026, with order books opening soon. Prices and detailed specs for other European markets, including Spain, are yet to be confirmed.

Why It Matters

The Volkswagen Multivan 2027 update keeps this iconic monovolume competitive with modern tech, efficient powertrains, and improved comfort. Its blend of practical features and hybrid availability offers an appealing choice in the family and business transport segment as Volkswagen shifts focus to electrification and streamlined lineups.
