Maserati’s 2026 China-Italy Grand Tour Ends in Modena Celebrating 100 Years of the Trident

Maserati has marked the grand finale of its 2026 China-Italy Grand Tour in Modena, concluding a 15,000 km journey that began in Shanghai over two months ago. This epic route paid tribute to the brand’s century-long heritage of racing, engineering excellence, and grand touring tradition.

A Historic Journey Along Ancient Routes

The tour followed a path inspired by the Silk Road, moving through diverse landscapes and cultures from China to Italy. The convoy passed through key regions such as:

  • The water towns of Jiangnan and Qinling mountains in China
  • Central Asian cities including Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara
  • The Caucasus region and Turkish landmarks like Istanbul and Cappadocia
  • Countries across the Balkans, including Croatia and Slovenia
  • Italy’s famous Motor Valley and the Dolomites, finishing in Modena

Test of Performance Across Varied Terrains

The 14,400 km expedition proved a demanding challenge, testing Maserati’s key models in extreme conditions:

  • GranTurismo Trofeo: Featured the 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno engine, balancing power and comfort on desert roads and mountain passes.
  • GranCabrio: Open-top touring with a high-rigidity chassis and an “Air Scarf” system to protect from cold on high-altitude drives.
  • Grecale: Versatile on gravel, unpaved, and urban roads with all-wheel-drive and adaptive suspension for smooth handling.

Return to the Heart of Maserati

The tour ended at Maserati’s global headquarters in Modena, where the entire GranTurismo and GranCabrio production is now centralized. The factory visit showcased the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship, with bespoke customization options available through the Officine Fuoriserie center.

Why This Matters

This journey highlights Maserati’s ongoing balance between performance and luxury, celebrating its 100-year legacy while supporting a modern, global brand identity. It also reinforces Modena’s role as the brand’s home and creative hub as Maserati moves forward with innovative models and electric variants.
