BYD has officially confirmed that the new Seal 08 flagship sedan will launch on July 2, 2026 in China. The model is part of the brand’s Ocean series and will sit at the top of BYD’s sedan lineup.
Early reports show the car is already arriving at dealerships ahead of its official market debut.

Flagship Sedan for the Ocean Lineup
The BYD Seal 08 is designed as a large premium sedan positioned above the current Seal models.
It follows BYD’s new Ocean Aesthetic 2.0 design language, featuring a fastback-style body, slim lighting units, and a more aerodynamic shape.
The model was first revealed earlier in 2026 and is expected to target the premium EV and hybrid sedan segment.
Advanced Platform and High Performance
The Seal 08 will use BYD’s latest technology, including:
- 800V high-voltage architecture
- Second-generation Blade battery
- Rear-wheel steering system
- DiSus-A intelligent body control
- LiDAR-based driver assistance (God’s Eye system)
The top AWD version is expected to deliver around 694 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful BYD sedans to date.

Range and Charging Capability
The electric version is expected to offer up to 900–1000 km CLTC range, depending on configuration.
Fast-charging technology is also a key highlight, with reports suggesting that the system can add significant range in just a few minutes of charging.
Pricing Expectations
Early dealer leaks suggest a starting price of around $36,900 (approx. €34,000) for entry versions, while higher trims may exceed this range depending on configuration.
A Key Model in BYD’s Global Expansion
The Seal 08 is part of BYD’s strategy to expand its presence in the global premium sedan market. With strong performance figures, advanced driver assistance systems, and long-range capability, the model is expected to compete with both European and Chinese rivals in the executive EV segment.
